Taoist Chinese Medicine

Practiced for over 1700 years, Fengyang traditional Chinese medicine was developed by Dong Feng (220-280 AD). As practitioners today, we follow the same high standards of holistic healing techniques focused on the patient.

Kevin Ferry

Kevin Ferry began playing Tai Chi with Dr. Wu in 2013 after discovering the peace and energy that came through Qi Gong. Weeks before finding the Wu Healing center, Kevin took a day trip with his mother to the Chung Yen Monastery in New York. The leader of the Group was from a CT Tai Chi academy and she led a Qi Gong class on the plaza in front of the Temple.   He was hooked. He looked for the closest Tai Chi and Qi Gong training to his home and found Wu Healing Center and Dr. Wu. Kevin realizes today that it was his mother’s love that brought him to that monastery as that day had a major impact on his life.

At the time of the visit, his body and spirit were very weak. Night sweats, brain fog, muscle spasms, burning hands and feet, poor digestion, body aches, muscle hot spots and little energy.  Lyme disease was taking its toll. At Wu healing, regular Qi Gong slowly brought back energy to the body and Tai Chi helped quiet the mind. Meditation and vegetarian meals were a weekly occurrence at Wu healing back then. Healthy food and delicious Chinese tea took the place of a fairly average American diet. Too much wheat, too much dairy, too much meat and too much sugar.  Slowly, over several years, with lots of help from Dr. Ming Wu, Tai Chi Chuck, Leslie Winter Gordon, Dr. Qingcai Zhang, his rescue dog Sita and others, Kevin’s body, mind and spirit are aligned.

In addition to playing Tai Chi, Kevin has practiced Yoga for 15 years and for the last 3 years has practiced the Wim Hof Method. With this method, cold exposure, intentional rounds of deep breathing and breath holds are combined with a no-fear mind set. Kevin is working on obtaining a teaching certificate from Dr. Ming Wu and currently has his Associates Instructor Certificate in Qi Gong and Tai Chi issued by Dr. Wu.

Kevin has attended many workshops on meditation and life goals at the Wu Healing Center. Kevin has also attended dozens of mindfulness workshops and retreats all over the world.  A yoga retreat at a Tibetan Book Bindery in Northern California, Bhakti Yoga week- long retreats with Jai Uttal in California and Costa Rica, a 2 week Tai Chi retreat to Puning, Jieyang, Guangdong and Wuyi Mountain with Dr. Ming Wu, week long immersion into the Wim Hof Method with Wim Hof in the Spanish Pyrenees, a week with Ram Dass and friends on Maui, Hawaii, and numerous weekend workshops in Meditation, Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and relationships at the Omega Institute for Holistic studies.

Kevin is owner of a Law Firm in New Britain that he founded in 1991, named Ferrylaw.  His firm, perhaps the first in the State, has a wellness center for clients and staff. As a trial lawyer for 30 years, Kevin uses principles from Tai Chi to help him win his client’s battles.  In 2016 and 2017 Kevin obtain verdicts that were in the top 10 in the State.

Tai Chi has shown the way to stay centered and allow things to flow effortlessly- Wu We. Tai chi improves mental and physical balance with slow weight shifts and flowing effortless movement. Harvard Medical School has studied Tai Chi and it recognizes many benefits. Kevin says Tai Chi and Qi Gong are like lubricating oil for the body and the mind. He also firmly believes that “stillness prevents illness.” Even though the body is moving during Tai Chi and Qi Gong, the mind is focused, and all extraneous thoughts are allowed to pass harmlessly out of the mind net.

As Dr. Wu says, America runs on Dunkin. Our culture is one of excess.  We move too fast, eat too fast, drink too fast and consequently we do not consciously live our lives. Lao Tsu said “ Make your heart like a lake with a calm still surface and great depths of Kindness.” Kevin believes there is no greater power than love, but we are not in touch with who we are, so we can not clear the clutter of our culture and society to love ourselves, nature and everything in it the way we were intended to.  Keen observation of yourself and of nature are the first step to wholeness and finding our connection with the earth.

Kevin is available to Lecture to groups of any size on mindfulness and stress reduction techniques and to teach Tai Chi and Qi Gong.
